You’re in Command of Your GNCU Visa Debit Card

Card Controls enable you to have a near real-time control center, helping you set alerts and stay in control of your debit card usage and finances. With a touch of a button, you decide when, where and how much you spend, as well as deactivate or activate your debit card to help prevent possible fraud. With personalized preferences, you can track and limit spending by card to fit your needs.

Card Controls are available to GNCU members with a personal checking account, business checking account, or health savings account.

Debit Card Controls

  • Activate your new card: Once you receive a new card in the mail, you can choose to activate it here.
  • Turn your card off or on: If you misplace or lose your card, you can switch it off with the tap of a finger. Then, when you find it, easily switch it back on.
  • Update your card’s PIN: If you know your current PIN, you can easily change it at any time.
  • Transaction limits: A helpful tool to keep your spending in check and prevent fraud, establish a maximum purchase amount based on different options.

  • Transaction restrictions: Another way to guard your card against fraud is through automatically declining transactions based on different qualifiers.
    • By location – International/non U.S. transactions
    • By transaction types – eCommerce, in-store, recurring1, or ATM
    • By merchant types2 – Department store, entertainment, gas station, grocery, household, personal care, restaurant, travel, or age-restricted

Real-Time Text or Email Alerts

  • Spending alerts: Per transaction limit, per monthly limit, or if your card gets declined.
  • Location alerts: Per international transaction.
  • Transaction type alerts: Per eCommerce, in-store, recurring, or ATM transaction.
  • Merchant type alerts2: Per department store, entertainment, gas station, grocery, household, personal care, restaurant, travel, or age-restricted transaction.

Travel Notices

  • No need to call or message GNCU: Easily manage your travel plans to use your card anywhere that Visa is accepted without issue.
  • Easily assign each card: Include one or several of your GNCU debit cards together in one Travel Notice to ensure all the cards work while on your journey.
  • For traveling anywhere in the world: Include the state(s) or country(ies) that you’ll be traveling to and through, including layovers.

What GNCU Visa debit cards will show in Card Controls?

You will only be able to see and manage your own issued or active debit cards tied to your GNCU personal checking, business checking, and health savings accounts.

I can’t see my joint account holder’s GNCU Visa debit card in Card Controls. Why is that?

You will only be able to see and manage your own issued or active debit cards in Card Controls. A joint account holder will need their own Digital Banking account to see and manage the controls and alerts for their debit cards separately.

How do I enable/disable my GNCU Visa debit card in Card Controls?

1. To enable your card, toggle the Enable/Disable Card button to ON.

2. To disable your card, toggle the Enable/Disable Card button to OFF and select Temporarily Disable* or Report Lost or Stolen**.

*Temporarily disabling your card will cause all transactions to decline. You may turn the card back on at any time by toggling the switch back to ON.

**Reporting your card as lost or stolen will result in it being permanently deactivated.

How do I set up transaction alerts in Card Controls?

1. Click on Card Controls in the Menu.

2. Click on Card Details for the card you would like to set alerts on.

3. Under Communication, click on Alerts.

4. Check the box for one or multiple alert types.

5. Choose how you would like your alerts delivered (by SMS or Email) and your contact information.

6. Click on Submit alerts at the bottom of the page to finish.

How do I set up spending limits in Card Controls?

1. Click on Card Controls in the Menu.

2. Click on Card Details for the card you would like to set spending limits on.

3. Under Card Management, click on Card Controls.

4. Under Spending, check the box and set your desired spending limits per transaction, month, or day.

5. Click Submit limits at the bottom of the page to finish.

How do I stop international transactions in Card Controls?

1. Click on Card Controls in the Menu.

2. Click on Card Details for the card you want to stop international transactions on.

3. Under Card Management, click on Card Controls.

4. Under Location, check the Decline International/Non U.S. Transactions box.

5. Click Submit limits at the bottom of the page to finish.

How do I stop specific transaction types in Card Controls?

2. Click on Card Details for the card you want to set spending controls on.

3. Under Card Management, click on Card Controls.

4. Under Transaction Types, check one or multiple boxes to decline: eCommerce, recurring, ATM, or in-store transactions.

5. Click Submit limits at the bottom of the page to finish.

How do I change my GNCU Visa debit card’s PIN in Card Controls?

1. Click on Card Controls in the Menu.

2. Click on Card Details for the card you want to change your PIN on.

3. Under Other, click on Change PIN.

4. Put in your current PIN and your desired new PIN in the designated spaces.

5. Click on Save PIN Number at the bottom of the page to finish.

How do I notify GNCU that I am traveling in Card Controls?

1. Click on Card Controls in the Menu.

2. Select Travel Notifications at the bottom of the page.

3. Select one or multiple cards you want to set a new travel notification for.

4. Select a departure and return date.

5. Choose where you will be traveling, Domestic or International.

6. Provide a traveling contact number.

7. Click Submit at the bottom of the page to finish.

How do I change my email or phone number for alerts in Card Controls?

1. Click on Card Controls in the Menu.

2. Click on Card Details for the card you would like to set alerts on.

3. Under Communication, click on Alerts.

4. Under Choose Your Delivery Option, change your current phone number or email to your new phone number or email.

5. Click on Submit alerts to finish.

How do I unenroll my GNCU Visa debit card from alerts in Card Controls?

2. Click on Card Details for any card.

3. Under Communication, click on Alerts.

4. Uncheck the Enroll in Alerts and Controls box.

5. Click Unenroll* at the bottom of the page to finish.

*Unenrolling will unenroll ALL available cards from Alerts and Card Controls.

How do I unenroll my GNCU Visa debit card from controls in Card Controls?

1Recurring purchase restrictions only affect new transactions. Any recurring purchases set up before the restriction was turned on will continue as normal.

2Dependent on the correct merchant code being used. A different code may bypass the transaction restriction or alert. Greater Nevada Credit Union does not assign these codes.
